The Challenge
In the fast-evolving insurance market, companies struggle to keep pace with technological changes and rising customer expectations. Traditional software development is slow and costly, often taking 12-18 months and costing over $2 million. This inefficiency has driven insurers to seek quicker, more affordable solutions like INSTANDA, a Low-Code No-Code (LCNC) platform designed to streamline software deployment and enhance customization and branding for insurance products. My company was tasked with designing and configuring this innovative platform for our insurance provider clients. Partnering with Instanda, my company took on a group of projects, designing and configuring various member portals for our insurance provider clients.
Role I Played
In collaboration with INSTANDA, I played a pivotal role in shaping the digital presence for a diverse array of insurance clients across various sectors including Property & Casualty, Healthcare, Mobility, and Church Insurance. My primary focus was on branding and customization, ensuring that each client’s portal was uniquely tailored to represent their brand identity effectively.
Strategy & Execution
Branding and Customization: I conducted thorough brand identity analyses for each client to ensure that their portals resonated with targeted users, combining functionality with appealing aesthetics.
User Persona Development: To cater to the different needs of underwriters, brokers, and public users, I developed detailed user personas. This informed the design of tailored user experiences that met specific user requirements and expectations.
A/B Testing and Iteration: Through extensive A/B testing, I validated design choices and continuously improved the portals based on real user feedback. This iterative process was crucial in refining user experience and functionality.
Development of Design Systems: By establishing a comprehensive design system, I created a consistent and recognizable user interface across multiple touchpoints, including websites, mobile apps, and customer portals. This system included a library of reusable components, which streamlined the development process and ensured consistent branding and user experience.
Results
The collaboration with INSTANDA and the adoption of LCNC technologies led to several significant outcomes:
• Enhanced Client Acquisition: The ability to rapidly deploy customized portals attracted a broader spectrum of insurance providers, expanding our client base.
• Strengthened Partnerships: The project fostered mutual benefits and strengthened partnerships with various insurance stakeholders.
Lessons Learned
- Efficiency of LCNC Platforms: The LCNC approach has proven to be highly effective for insurance providers, significantly reducing development time and cost.
- The Critical Role of Design Systems: A well-integrated design system is essential for maintaining consistency across different user interfaces, which helps build trust and ease of use for customers.
- Insurance Product Roadmap Innovation: The project underscored the importance of innovation in product development strategies within the insurance sector, highlighting the need for agile and customer-centric approaches.
Through this project, I gained invaluable insights into the importance of adapting to technological advancements and the strategic implementation of design systems in enhancing user experience and operational efficiency in the insurance industry.
